Coillte have confirmed it is in the development stage of a new reporting, payment, document upload system for hunters licensed to hunt on Coillte property.
Similar systems are already successfully in use in other countries such as Germany and Austria. It is envisaged hunters will access the system online through phone, tablet or PC to carry out all the functions and services they would normally complete with their local Coillte office such as payments, cull returns, uploading insurance and other documents, giving notice when hunting on Coillte property.
The Irish Deer Commission have also been informed the system will be used to record deer sightings and act as a tool for deer management planning in specific regions.
It is likely other agencies such as the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht will use a similar system in the future.
